48-Card Vowel Pack

The 48-card pack contains duplicate spellings and alternate spellings on separate cards, increasing the difficulty of completing the task.

The instructor first goes through the card pack to the student. The timing pack, held by the student, is constructed from the sound/spellings correspondences that are secure. When timed, the student goes through the pack, quickly saying the sound and placing each card face up on the table. Three short timings of 12 or 15 seconds are recommended. The rate (sounds per minute) is found by multiplying by 5 or 4, respectively.
