Consonant and 18-Card Vowel Packs

One consonant pack and one 18-card vowel pack are offered as a set. The directions for the vowel pack are in the description for Two 18-Card Vowel Packs. The consonant pack contains representative spellings for each consonant sound on a card; again, very small letters are printed on the upper left-hand corner of the card so that the cards can be quickly oriented.

As with the 18-card vowel pack, the instructor first goes through the card pack with the student. The timing pack, held by the student, is constructed from the sound/spellings correspondences that are secure. When timed, the student goes through the pack, quickly saying the sound and placing each card face up on the table. The rate is found by dividing the number of cards in the timing pack by the time taken in minutes.
